massage

Registered massage therapy

Massage therapy is a comprehensive intervention involving a range of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and joints of the body. The purpose of massage therapy is to prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve. It is a clinically-oriented health option that focuses on relieving an array of discomforts stemming from stress, muscular overuse and many chronic pain syndromes

Corrective exercises

Corrective exercise is an important element to any musculoskeletal rehab program. Power Health Chinook believes strongly in the integration of corrective exercise in our treatment protocols to aid in injury rehabilitation and to promote more effective movement patterns.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine involving the insertion of ultra-fine needles into specific points of energy that are located along 14 Meridians or Channels that cover the entire body.

Active release therapy

Active Release is a hands on manual therapy that helps repair scar tissue and return the body to its pre-injury state. It has remarkable results with both new and chronic injuries, and can be used on practically any part of the body.

Graston 3

Graston Technique

Graston Technique is a soft tissue intervention that uses metal tools to break apart scar tissue formed within and between layers of muscle and fascia. Graston Technique has been found to be very effective in conjunction with Active Release, and can be used to treat tennis elbow, hamstring strains, rotator cuff impingements, and many other conditions.

manual-therapy

Manual therapy

Manual therapy from a Chiropractic perspective involves mobilization and manipulation targeted to joint dysfunctions presenting from acute injuries such as motor-vehicle accidents, postural strain as well as degenerative conditions such as degenerative disc disease.

ims

Intramuscular stimulation (IMS)

IMS treatment involves dry needling affected areas within the body in order to release shortened muscles, which presses on and irritates nerves. IMS uses acupuncture needles, however, IMS needling is different than acupuncture needling in that needles are inserted deep within muscle tissues, specifically targeting injured muscles that have contracted and become shortened from injury and distress.

Bursitis Tips

Selective functional movement assessment (SFMA)

The Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is a series of seven full-body movement tests designed to assess fundamental patterns of movement such as bending and squatting in those with known musculoskeletal pain.

laser1

Low-level laser therapy – Class IV

The single most important factor that determines the effectiveness of Laser Therapy is the power output (measured in milliwatts (mW)) of the Laser Therapy Unit. It is important for the following reasons:

• Depth of Penetration: the higher the power, the deeper the penetration, allowing for treatment of tissue damage deep within the body.
• Treatment Time: more power leads to shorter treatment times.
• Therapeutic Effect: the greater the power the more effective the laser is in treating more severe and painful conditions.

shocktherapy-

Shockwave therapy

Shockwave Therapy sends acoustic energy waves into ligaments and tendons to break down calcifications and adhesions that prevent the tissue from healing. Research has shown it to be one of the most effective tools for tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis
